Are you pregnant and wondering if adoption could be right for you? You may have many questions. You may be thinking about your baby, your future, and what will happen next.
You do not have to decide everything today. You can start by learning about your choices.
Guide for Birth Mothers Considering Adoption
As a birth mother, you may be unsure whether adoption is right for you, what type of adoption you want, or what kind of family you hope to choose. That is okay. You can start by learning about your options without making a decision right away.
Courageous Hearts Adoptions can help you. Our team will discuss your situation and offer support 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. You can talk to our adoption professional, who will explain how adoption works and what choices you may have. Learning more does not mean you have to choose adoption.
You Can Make an Adoption Plan
If you decide to move forward, you can make an adoption plan. It will include your wishes and preferences. You can share what you want for your baby. You can also talk about the type of family you hope to choose.
Your adoption plan may also include your hospital stay, who you want with you during birth, and what you would like to happen after birth.
You Can Choose the Adoptive Family
Making an adoption plan also allows you to choose a loving and safe family for your baby. We have a list of waiting adoptive families on our website. The families go through home studies, background checks, interviews, and other reviews. You can review the adoptive family profiles to learn about their home, family, values, and hopes for your child.
You Can Talk About Future Contact
You can also talk about contact after adoption. Our adoption counselor can explain how each type works so you can decide what feels right for you.
Some adoption plans include photos and letters. Others may include phone calls or visits. Open, semi-open, and closed adoption plans can offer different levels of contact.
You Can Ask About Support
Pregnancy may include many needs. These may include medical bill support, legal resources, counseling, and help with housing or living costs. Depending on state law and your needs, support will be available for counseling, medical care, transportation, housing help, or other services.

Positive Adoption Language Disclaimer –We understand that using words such as “give up” or “put up” to describe adoption can be hurtful and inappropriate. However, we must include these words in our blog posts to appear in expectant moms’ Google search results. While we promote positive adoption language, many expectant moms who come to us at first do not understand what that means. Therefore, our blog posts may use the language they understand, such as “how do I give up my baby for adoption” or “how do I put up my baby for adoption,” in order to explain how to create an adoption plan for their baby.
